How wearing slippers on-site taught me to be a better designer.
Imagine this: A workspace fit-out in Tokyo's iconic 'Iceberg' building is mid-construction, and we turned up for a site visit.
The site foreman greets us in slippers.
The freshly finished concrete floor was pristine, and to protect it, the team handed us slippers instead of the usual shoe covers.
Talk about Japanese hospitality at its finest.
Here are three lessons I took from that experience that are part of my design approach:
> Be thoughtful - Always consider the comfort of the end user.
> Be Practical - Never forget to solve the problem
> Be Unique - Only your creativity will be your limit once the above two are taken care of.
